Building a new boat is a
challenging task in its own right. But with the youngest fleet in the
marketplace and recognized throughout the world as the industry leader,
building a better boat every day is what we do at Viking. The latest
incarnation of this commitment to excellence is the remarkable Viking
64 Convertible. Aboard the Viking 64 Convertible the cockpit boasts 180
square feet of working space, including a mezzanine deck. The mezzanine
actually enhances the cockpit and makes it feel larger because every
important detail is built in and then some. Bait freezers, for example
are under-mounted to increase capacity. A step to the salon lifts to
expose a cavernous drink cooler. The mezzanine is especially desirable
on a yacht this size because it creates an upper and lower cockpit;
spectators are close to the action, but never in the way of the angler
or wireman, and never obstruct the captain's view of the cockpit. In
addition, the mezzanine provides an excellent place to relax at the
dock or enjoy welcome shade during the mid-day troll.
For a very
special touch, misters can be added to the underside of the bridge
overhang, which emit a refreshing mist of water to cool the area.
Standard amenities include a one-piece anodized aluminum ladder to the
flying bridge, a molded nonslip fiberglass sole with aluminum plate
reinforcement for fighting chair placement, stainless-steel hardware,
walk-through transom door with lift gate, an in-deck fishwell with a
macerator pump, flush rod holders, gaff, tag stick and mop stowage,
fresh and salt water washdown systems, engineroom and lazarette access.
For dockside convenience, there are port and starboard Glendinning
shore power cord reels. Experienced anglers also will appreciate the
increased transom shape, which provides better maneuverability in
reverse to help gain line and outgun big fish. Cruising yachtsmen will
appreciate the wide-open space afforded by the 64 Convertible's cockpit
for entertaining and dockside versatility. And with the available
climate-controlled enclosed bridge, they will enjoy what is essentially
a second salon. A spiral staircase from the salon to the bridge also is
available. The resplendent interior of the Viking 64 Convertible is
especially spacious thanks to the yacht's generous 19-foot 2-inch beam.
The sheer volume also allows a variety of interior plans to suit an
array of owner requirements. In the salon, for instance, there is a
choice of either an L-shaped sofa with a pair of plush bar stools at
the galley counter, or a U-shaped sofa. Both arrangements include a
custom hi-lo table and provide superb viewing of the 42-inch plasma
television screen framed in teak cabinetry above the dinette. An
electrically operated door simplifies egress to the salon from the
cockpit at the touch of a button. Teak valances conceal air
conditioning registers for maximum cooling and reduced noise levels.
High gloss joinery throughout the salon and rich designer fabrics and
appointments abound. The U-shaped galley is on the same level as the
salon and is designed for maximum efficiency. Convenience and
practicality merge throughout the galley with Sub-Zero under counter
refrigeration, an electric cooktop, trash compactor and custom grade
Corian countertops.
Whether prepping gourmet meals at the yacht club
dock or making snacks for the nightshift 100 miles offshore, the galley
keeps every amenity close at hand. Stowage is both bountiful and easy
to reach. Premium Amtico teak and holly flooring is beautiful and
durable for life at sea. Opposite the galley, the dinette seats four
comfortably.
